Giacomo Preti

Short CV

Giacomo Preti is a PhD student in computational neuroscience at Aix-Marseille Université. He graduated from the Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, where he focused on biologically detailed spiking neural networks of the hippocampus. Since 2023, he has been working on the Virtual Brain Twin project at the Institut de Neurosciences des Systèmes, Aix-Marseille Université. His research focuses on virtual brain twins. In particular, he works on personalized whole-brain models to support diagnosis and treatment selection in patients with epilepsy and schizophrenia.

Title of the talk

Virtual Brain Twins: Towards Personalized Treatment Decisions in Schizophrenia

Abstract

In this talk, Giacomo Preti will present virtual brain twins for schizophrenia. The presentation will introduce whole-brain modeling in the context of virtual brain twins and discuss how these models are built and personalized using in vivo imaging modalities. Finally, the talk will highlight how they can be used to investigate disease mechanisms and potentially guide treatment decisions for clinicians.
