Alberto Danieli

Short CV
Alberto Danieli received his degree in Medicine from Verona University (Italy) in 2010 and his specialization  in Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry from the same Institute in  2015.

Since then, he has worked at Scientific Institute IRCCS E. Medea, Conegliano (Italy). His clinical and research activities focuses on epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly on the use of clinical, EEG and other non invasive techniques to characterize  the manifestations of such conditions, evaluate current and novel treatment strategies, and develop novel biomarkers and disease models with the aim of promoting precision medicine.

Title of the talk

The quest for precision medicine in rare neurodevelopmental disorders

Abstract
In this talk, Alberto Danieli will discuss current and future perspectives regarding the management of rare neurodevelopmental disorders. The presentation will first introduce the definition of neurodevelopmental disorder and its relevance for both clinical practice and research, and will then focus on some rare conditions, particularly Angelman and Dup15q syndrome, which recapitulate the promises and challenges of precisione medicine for disorders of brain development. The talk will highlight the need to improve disease modelling, including the possibility to simulate the behaviour of a system and its reactions to different treatments, to enhance the development of novel therapies tailored to specific conditions in the context of an individual’s unique biological and behavioural profile. Finally, he will briefly discuss how in the era of genomic medicine, the importance of integrated health and social care for rare neurodevelopmental disorders should not be undermined.
